Hoots Comedy is Edinburgh’s newest comedy and cabaret club. In 2023, we launched our partnership with The Apex to create a new Fringe comedy hub in the Grassmarket.
In 2024, Hoots@Apex will have over 45 shows in 5 rooms in one great venue!

HOOTS@THE APEX, THE ROOMS
Hoot 1
The largest room at 160 capacity. Like all of our rooms it is air conditioned and wheelchair accessible.
Hoot 2
At 80 capacity with a an 8ft x 4ft stage, Hoot 2 is our second largest room. It is air conditioned and wheelchair accessible.
Hoot 3
Hoot3 is a 50 seater room with stage and all the equipment needed for a great show. Like all the rooms, it has air conditioning.
Hoot 4
Hoot4 is a 40 seater room with stage and all the equipment needed. It has has air conditioning.
Hoot 5
Hoot 5 is one of our small rooms, a 28 seater room with everything you need for your first Fringe show.
How it works
Our aim is to cover our costs and help great acts have a great Fringe.
Our offer is simple. Your Fee books a room and covers your share of the venue lease and the tech installation. The capped ticket cut at 10% covers staffing the venue.

10% Capped Cut. - Hoot 2 – Fee £1300 Prime Slots / £1100 Early Slot

Anything from 3pm is a Prime Slot, anything before is an Early Slot
This is 10% of potential ticket sales based on a ticket price of £6.
Ticket prices are absolutely up to you and if you charge more than £6 that extra money is yours, as is any bucket speech monies or tips.

Our new venues at Hoots@Home Street and Hoots@Potterrow will be accepting applications later in the year.
You have an hour slot, so we’d recommend aiming for 55 minutes.

HOOTS@Home & HOOTS@POTTERROW
We are finalising all the plans and material for both Hoots@Home and Hoots@Potterrow, all will be revealed soon.
What we can say is this:
Hoots@Home a fully kitted out venue with purpose built stage, lights, screen etc. It’s a permanent club, so you can image it is fully kitted out. It is an 65 seats.
Hoots@Potterrow has existed in it’s previous incarnation as BlundaGardens. Bob and Lucy have decided to concentrate on their very cool project Vogrie Pogrie, and we have the privilege of taking over the site.
We LOVE everything that BlundaGardens stand for and we will be keeping that inclusive, experimental and down right fringey ethos going.
There will be two yurts dedicated to performance spaces, one a similar size to the Magical Spiegelyurt (c6.5m diameter) and one smaller (c4.4m diameter).
And yes! There will be a bus with a piano in it!
